The Rethos Board of Directors is very proud to announce the appointment of its new executive director, Heidi Swank.

After an exhaustive search for the right candidate to build on our current success and lead Rethos into the future, we are pleased to welcome Heidi Swank as our new Executive Director. Heidi has a proven track record of success leading in the non-profit sector. Her experience paired with that of our talented Rethos staff sets the organization up for continued success for many years to come."

Heidi comes to Rethos from Prescott, WI via Las Vegas, NV. A graduate of Hamline University, she went on to obtain her Ph.D. in anthropology from Northwestern University. In 2005, she, her husband, and their two cats moved to Las Vegas where she worked as an assistant professor of anthropology. In 2012, Heidi left the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to run for the Nevada Legislature where she served for four terms in the Nevada Assembly. She chaired the Committee on Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining as well as the General Government sub-committee of Ways and Means. Heidi also rose to a leadership position in the Nevada Assembly as a two-term assistant majority whip. In 2013, Dr. Swank started the Nevada Preservation Foundation, Nevada's statewide historic preservation nonprofit. Under her leadership, Nevada Preservation grew to work across Nevada with board members and staff in Las Vegas, Reno, and Elko. Heidi will begin her new appointment on January 4, 2021.
